Overview
At JETORCA, I collaborated with APERO Artist Collection on the documentary film "Beyond The Break," featuring master ceramic artist Patrick S Crabb. Patrick invites us into his home ceramic studio in Tustin, California where he curates the critical and transformative stages of clay. Patrick shares his journey of teaching ceramics while his inspiring personality radiates. This project was a creative enthusiast's dream, created by a small team dedicated to capturing Patrick's artistic process and passion for teaching, while devoting a tribute to his mentors and giants of the ceramic arts. Our vision was to create a contemporary documentary featuring Patrick in his home ceramic studio within one of his favorite art expressions "chiaroscuro". We explored Patricks mud room, kilns and property filled with ceramic works of his own creation along with a few of his students. In post-production, we allowed Patrick's voice to shine with all of his enduring traits and welcoming humor, resulting in a documentary film campaign that exceeded Patrick's expectations and delivered new interest in his highly sought after ceramic art.
